Blog #15 Down with the clubs up with the house parties
I have been in a party mood recently. The sun has returned to Perth and I am so close to graduating from university. Getting a new roommate has been another big motivator for my party mood. My new roommate Tom also owns DJ decks and loves a party.
The past few Saturdays we have started playing music, mixing cocktails and eventually just inviting people around. It really has been a perfect storm of factors and I have had a great time the past few weeks. I have gotten even more excited for the summer and would love to host lots of house parties.
I absolutely love going out but it is so expensive nowadays and I have just gotten nostalgic for house parties. I went out both Friday and Saturday night this past weekend, I did not get home until 5 am both mornings. The Friday I went out and the Saturday I went to a house party. The amount of money I spent on drinks on Friday is ridiculous. The more people I talk to the more seem to agree with me. It is so much cheaper and easier to do house parties. I’m planning on moving away from Perth halfway through next year so for me it’s really important to have some fun and make some more memories as I’m not sure how long I will be gone for.
Both my roommate and I have seriously discussed getting a Kegorator on multiple occasions. It might sound ridiculous but also how cool would that be!? We originally got the idea after seeing them being sold at Aldi for $700. We could not justify the price tag but you just know that we started browsing marketplace. If you start doing some pint-enomics you realise it really is a financially wise move.
Perth always feels quite sad and empty over the winter months. People either stay in or go abroad. These past couple of weeks though have felt like the city has come back to life. every time I go to the campus pub or my local recently it is full of people out in the sun enjoying themselves.
It may only be like the second or third week of spring but if you asked me it is summertime and will remain that way until like March or April. I am really lucky to live in a city with fantastic weather for the majority of the year. My main goal right now is to really stay motivated, focused and somewhat organised for the next 6 weeks and then I can begin to really enjoy this weather without stressing. Picking up some bar work is something I’m really excited to do as well.
Bit of a short one this week but thanks for reading. Enjoy your week !!
